Our Mission
Keeping families and
schools in the loop of
their children’s success
The Loop believes that parents and schools are an integral part of academic support. However, the traditional model of academic support takes place outside of school and lacks consistent communication between clinicians, parents, and teachers. This is where The Loop comes in.
The Loop partners exclusively with private schools in Chicago to provide highly customized, unmatched academic support for their students. Parents have the convenience of their child receiving top-tier support at their school while schools have the advantage of on-site specialists at no cost to them.
It’s a win-win-win. Parents have access to the best supports for their children. Private schools have vetted on-site specialists that they can trust and collaborate with. Students get a one-of-a-kind treatment program with specialists, families, and schools working in unison to get the best possible results.
Our Model
The Loop partners exclusively with private schools in Chicago. We provide our services at school allowing us to better communicate with teachers and school staff, use classroom materials, and adapt our support to current academic content areas. Parents not only have the convenience of getting our services right at the school, but they see immediate and long-term improvements in their children. Schools have the benefit of vetted specialists that know their school values, curriculum, and they can collaborate with and refer students to without having to hire a staff member.
Our Process
Initial Meeting
Before we begin working with your child, we will schedule a free consultation meeting which can take place over the phone or via web conference. This consultation lasts around 15 minutes and allows us to get to know you and your child, discuss your concerns and your goals, and allow you to ask us any questions you may have. At the end of the consultation, we’ll discuss options for next steps.
Assessment
If you decide to move forward with an evaluation, we will coordinate with your child’s teacher to schedule an assessment. Assessment time varies based on the number of areas we are evaluating and may be broken up into multiple sessions. An assessment allows us to determine your child’s strengths and areas of need as well as determine appropriate goals and recommendations for therapy and remediation sessions. We will share the results of our evaluation with you and your child’s school in a team meeting so everyone is aware of our plan.
Treatment
After our evaluation meeting, your child will begin their speech, language, occupational, or learning sessions with one of our team members. While sessions will work on remediating the skills and areas of difficulty, we personalize our sessions so they are still engaging and fun. Once we begin our treatment, we work hand in hand with you and your child’s school.
The number and length of sessions as well as the duration of your child’s treatment varies depending on their unique learning profile and goals. Your child may be with us for a few months or may need continued support each year. We will continue to share your child’s progress, what skills we are working on, and encourage you to practice these skills at home. We find that families who are able to commit to home practice see quicker results and have a better understanding of their child’s progress.
Partner With Us
We are fortunate to work with a group of private schools who share our passion and vision for supporting students. Our schools are true collaborators and essential to our work. Partner schools are able to offer our services which help differentiate their school from other private schools in Chicago. When we work together, we can all achieve our common goal of student learning. If you are interested in your school becoming one of our partners, please contact Dr. Wacker at jessica@theloopsll.com
